FAQs

What is the difference between a podiatrist and a chiropodist?

A chiropodist is a person who is trained to carry out routine foot care. This can include nails, corns and callus. This type of care can also be called ‘chiropody’.

A podiatrist is a person who is trained to carry out the same routine care, however also has training for assessment and diagnosis of lower limb injuries, diabetic wound care, local anaesthetic administration and nail surgery.

The care carried out by Feet First Podiatry is technically chiropody (routine care), however it is carried out by a CORU registered podiatrist who has graduated with a honors degree in podiatric medicine.

Who requires podiatric care?

Podiatric care traditionally caters for an older population, however people of any age can avail of the services provided by a podiatrist.

Why home care instead of a private clinic?

The 'at home' nature of the services we provide is a convenient alternative for many, as you can receive care in the comfort of your home. Home care allows a patient to undergo a personalised and professional routine podiatric treatment, in a private and compassionate environment, which is often more cost effective than attending a conventional clinic.

How long is an appointment with Feet First Podiatry?

Notes are written after each treatment to ensure a continuity in care. Patient data and notes may be destroyed if a patient requests this.
